DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF
                                      MINIATURE SPECIMEN TESTING MACHINE                                           
A brief about the project

In thermal and nuclear power plants, mechanical properties of the material decays over time. Therefore it necessitates a regular in-situ testing of the properties of such material. This can be achieved by an innovative technique called “Miniature Specimen Testing”.
Conventional testing methods for determining the mechanical properties of materials require that a standard size specimen is prepared whereas in the Miniature Specimen testing the size of the specimen is miniature. Thus this innovative technique makes it possible that the functionality of the component whose material properties are being tested is not affected to a great extant . 
This project aims to develop a miniature testing machine which will encompass design, fabrication and related sample testing.

The machine will be having the following parts:
1.Screw driven motorized loading unit.
2.Sample holding device.
3.Load measuring unit.
4.Displacement measuring unit.
5.Data acquisition and analysis unit.
